Claiming Q Token Rewards as a Root Node

To stake your Q token rewards, you first need to claim them. This necessity stems from Q's tokenomics, which distributes token rewards to the corresponding reward earners through various pools and proxies. Below is a guide walking you through the procedure step-by-step. Please make sure to read the final note at the end, before you start to claim your Q tokens.

  1. Navigate to the Q HQ: Your HQ

  2. On the top bar of the page, ensure that you are connected to the mainnet, not the testnet. Connect with your MetaMask Wallet and root node account.

Note: You can initialize the distribution of Q token rewards with any account holding Q tokens. However, you will need your root node account to stake the received rewards later.

  3. In the Dashboard, expand the Tokenomics section by clicking on the arrow button. The following screen should appear:

  1. Under the Default Allocation Proxy, click on Allocate. MetaMask will pop up, prompting you to confirm the transaction, which will incur a small gas fee. The transaction will propagate a portion of the revenues generated by Q to the Root Node Reward Proxy.

  2. Notice the increased balance of the Root Node Reward Proxy.

  3. Under Root Node Reward Proxy, click on Allocate. MetaMask will again prompt you to confirm the transaction, incurring another small gas fee. Upon confirmation, the balance of the Root Node Reward Proxy will be divided and paid directly to each eligible root node.

  4. Notice the increased Q balance of your root node account. You can view the balance at the top of your page next to your public key or in your MetaMask account balance.

Final Note: As a root node, you do not need to claim your Q tokens every time your rewards are paid out. Q's Tokenomics and reward allocation are based on the concept of collective action, where one individual's action benefits everyone. For example, the default allocation proxy is typically allocated daily, while another root node may allocate the root node reward proxy. Consequently, your Q token account balance could increase due to the actions of other root nodes. This can save you the transaction fees which are required to trigger the Allocate transactions.

Now that you've claimed your Q token rewards, the next guide will show you how to stake them.
